Audra Davidson
Researcher, teacher, and science communicator

A brief introduction...
As a natural-born leader with a passion for making science accessible, I strive to develop novel, interdisciplinary research projects to share with the world in interesting ways. I am committed to learning and advancing valuable STEM skills in myself and others through collaborative research efforts, mentorship, and group leadership.
My current research projects blend neuroscience, biomechanics, and cognitive psychology to uncover the mechanisms of uniquely human abilities by examining how the way people move interacts with the way people think. Keep exploring my site to learn more information about me, my research, and my other involvements and reach out directly with any questions.
Education
What I’ve Learned
Georgia Institute of Technology
Doctor of Philosophy
May 2020 - Present
I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Physiology within the School of Biological Sciences. Applied physiology students study physiological principles of movement, such as the physiology of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. We apply these principles in our research with the goal of to restoring and/or enhancing motor function in humans.
Georgia Institute of Technology
Master of Biology
August 2016 - May 2020
While working toward a Ph.D. in Applied Physiology, I received a Master's of Biology degree.
University of Michigan
Bachelor of Science
September 2012 - May 2016
I received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a focus on Human Movement Science. This program focused on exercise physiology, biomechanics, and motor control to provide a well-rounded study of how humans move.
My Skills

Science Communication
With a great passion for making science more accessible to the public, I have spent years developing my written and oral communication skills. I have received training through multiple science communication fellowships and attended numerous science communication workshops. Putting this training into practice, I have given countless scientific presentations, written several popular science articles, and have developed and presented scientific content at outreach events for all ages. No matter the topic, I will make sure that both your professor and your 5-year-old will understand!

Interdisciplinary Research
Combining project management and creative thinking skills with extensive knowledge of human data acquisition and analysis, I have developed collaborative interdisciplinary research projects to address intricate scientific issues. My communication skills and scientific background afford me the unique ability to identify complex problems - and, more importantly, their solutions - across fields.

Teaching
I believe the best way to learn is active engagement, and have put that into practice in my classes for the past 5 years. Whether it's training colleagues on new software or equipment, or teaching in a formal classroom setting, I strive to ensure that those willing to learn will succeed.

Branding and Social Media
Using my extensive knowledge of Adobe programs, eye for design, and social media skills, I have designed advertisements and crafted social media presences for numerous organizations such as Charged Magazine and PAPER.
